George Washington Weels was a successful farmer, merchant, and postmaster in the Callsville community just south of Plant City near the Hopewell area. He moved into Plant City, where he established his business interests. He was one of the city's first Aldermen and later served as a city clerk. Mr. Wells was owner and operator of Wells and Son Hardware and Furniture Stores. He was married to Mary Jane Drew. George and Mary Jane were the parents of five children who were all active in the church.
