| E.W. & S.E. Norwood E.W. Norwood was a Confederate veteran who had served in the Second Mississippi Cavalry and was later a member of Hillsboro Camp No. 1 Confederate Veterans, led by Captain F.W. Merrin, founder and editor of the Plant City Courier.E.W. Norwood was on the Church Building Committee when the little wooden church on the northeast corner of Collins and Mahoney Streets was built in 1896. M.J. Norwood, who operated a grocery store in Plant City, rode a bicycle to the Springhead community to organize a Sunday School there, leading to the establishment of the Springhead Baptist Church. |
