Flowers & Decorations

(The term "florist" represents any professional or non-professional in charge of decorations.)

It is the responsibility of the event host to arrange with a florist for decorations. Florists or companies who decorate the chapel shall be required to post a check as a deposit against damage of any kind caused by their employees or equipment. In case of two florists being used, both must complete a florist agreement (Florist Agreement, E-3) and both post a $50.00 deposit. If the florist does not post a deposit, it will be the responsibility of the event host. All decorations, flowers, palms and other equipment must be removed from the chapel building immediately following its use. There are no facilities for storing these items and the chapel will not be responsible for them. The $50.00 deposit will not be refunded if this policy is not followed. It is a good idea to appoint someone to follow-up on removing decorations--although flowers may not be wanted, the event host is responsible for seeing to their removal. It is the responsibility of the florist to contact the special events committee to schedule a time for decorating.

Whenever candles are used, they must be of the metal dripless variety. Any exceptions must be submitted to the Event Coordinator and to receive prior approval. The floor and furniture must be thoroughly protected at all times. The florist will be held directly responsible for any damage to the wood floors/carpet or furniture in every case. Candles may not be used on pews.

The pulpit stand may be removed. However, this must be coordinated with the special events committee. If the chapel is decorated for a special program (Christmas, Easter, etc.), your decorations will have to be planned around them. They will not be removed. Under no conditions will decorations be attached to the pews, other furniture or walls by using pins, tape, glue, nails, clamps, or tacks!

Air conditioning or heating will be turned on only at a reasonable time before any scheduled event. (We realize it takes approximately twelve hours to cool.) You will want to discuss this with the Event Coordinator. Also, florists will want to know when the chapel will be cooled so they will not bring flowers too early.

Florists and their employees must refrain from the use of irreverent language or discourteous actions inside the building. Of course, the use of alcoholic beverages and smoking on chapel properties is strictly forbidden.
